Church Dedication February 26, 2000
God gave the vision for this new building project back in February 1999. But God had already begun His Gospel work back in the 1960s and 1970s through the work of dedicated Christian pastors and leaders from several churches in the Denton-Dallas-Arlington areas (Dallas Chinese Bible Church, Dallas Chinese Fellowship Church, Grace Temple Baptist Church, and Arlington Chinese Church). We, as members, leaders, and our pastor of Denton Chinese Church, express our thanks to the Lord for the leader and helpers who started the Gospel work in the early days. During the past five years, under the leadership of our pastor, we have experienced the unusual goodness and greatness of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are enabled by the grace and guidance of God to construct the first Chinese Church building in Denton, Texas. We consider our church as relatively small. Despite the size of our congregation, we have touched the lives of many people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the years. Living in a postmodern world of economic globalization, visual commercialization, and reality simulation, it is very easy for the world (its values and concerns) to get into the church. It is becoming more difficult for the church to get into the world. By the mercy and grace of God, we hope that our Christian presence at this geographical location (college town) will make an impact in worship and witness for the Lord. Throughout the construction of this new church building, God has used the book of Nehemiah to provide direction and devotion for our spiritual growth, vision, and unity. The spiritual principles on Christian giving found in chapters eight and nine of the Second Epistle to the Corinthians have enabled us to make complete payment for this new building. Our giving to the Lord has been marked by cheerfulness, readiness, willingness, generosity, and determined sacrifice. The passage of Ephesians 3:20-21 provides the best summary of how we are surprised by the grace of God: "Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him {be} the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen."
